Modern/All Media
Thursdays 10.00am – 1.30pm
Carole Foster

In this class Carole's objective is to free people up and let them "out of their box" or mind set, so they are able to connect with their own feelings and express themselves with enjoyment along their own creative path. During the course of this process, they will acquire technical skills and stretch their boundaries in the use of paint and other material in developing their ideas.

Watercolour In the Steps of the Masters
Fridays 10.00am – 12.30pm
Andrew Gemmill

Andrew's main purpose in this class is to give all a sound basis in the technique of water colour painting, made easier perhaps by seeing how it is done. There are many things to be learnt that are hard to describe, but easier to see in practice, including the dampness of the paper, the timing of when to apply the paint, the amount of water on the brush and many others. Some of these are: the imortance of drawing and perspective, properties of colours including the colour wheel, composition and the need to simplify the subject. Only when you have a basic grasp of the technique can you then go on and express yourself.

Life Drawing
TUTOR: Maxine Wade
Fridays 1.30 pm – 3.30 pm

Students will be using mixed media (graphite, charcoal, inks, pastel, coloured pencils, etc. on a variety of surfaces. Three of the nine sessions will be using a life model. The remaining sessions will be working from other life studies by famous artists (Delacroix, Botticelli, Michelangelo, Rodin, etc.), as well as some general drawing.
